Across the generations

Katie met her Great-Grandma Mary for the first time this week. They played a lot of peek-a-boo.

leavin' on a jet plane

Today is a big day - Katie's first vacation, first time out of state, first time to meet her great-grandma Mary, great-uncle Fred, great-aunt Lona, and great-uncle Bob.

But first - the first time on an airplane......
It went really well - little bit of Tylenol to keep her ears from hurting, and then a quick settle into Mommy's lap to nurse - she fell asleep before or during takeoff and napped the whole trip (much to the relief of the other passengers!)

Stairway to Heaven?

Led Zeppelin references notwithstanding, Katie has taken the staircase by storm! She's even able to scramble up our ultra-steep steps at home....

10 months old!

Boy has this been a big month! It seems like Katie learns new things every day - even every few hours....

  • crawling all over everywhere
  • pulling up to stand against furniture
  • playing with refrigerator magnets, tupperware, and whatever else she can find
  • eating all kinds of "big girl" food...even taking bites out of an apple herself!
  • climbing stairs
  • clapping
  • playing peek-a-boo with any handy object
  • waving bye-bye
  • dancing by picking her feet up one at a time as well as with knee-bends
  • walking with help (holding someone's hands)
  • pointing
She's continuing her experiments with the various sounds she can make (loud, quiet, high, low, etc.)

Mommy started working part-time away from home (yay summer school!), so we tried out the Katie-care plans with Uncle Steve and Granddad, and everything seems to be going swimmingly.

According to the bathroom scale, Katie weighs 19 pounds now, and she appears to be 28 inches long, though it's really hard to get her to stop wiggling long enough to get a good measurement!

Yankee Doodle Baby

Katie celebrated her first 4th of July in style! Besides going to her first Independence Day picnic, this day also marked her first time in a swimming pool...

She made a new friend in her soon-to-be-cousin-in-law, Parker.

And enjoyed her first fireworks (pictures coming)...she liked them a lot, even with the loud bangs and booms!
